Men's Bands in Rochester, NY

Men's Rings & Wedding Bands

We make our men’s bands in the metal of your choice: Platinum, Gold, Sterling Silver, and Pure Silver.

The Platinum (Pd) used is about 90% pure. It weighs more, it melts in very high temperature, and it is time-consuming to craft. Therefore, a platinum ring becomes about 2.5 to 3 times the price of the ring in 14 karat gold. It is recognized for its mellow, white, silky patina. For small detail work, it is superior in strength and durability.

The Gold (Au) used is commonly the 14 karat alloy (about 58% pure), or the 18 karat alloy (75% pure). The metal used for the alloy is mostly pure silver with a small part copper. Slightly more copper in the alloy makes it into Rose Gold. White gold comes from alloying with expensive metals like Palladium for a high melting temperature and more time in crafting. Our designs in 14 karat yellow gold are priced at about $2,000, with 18 karat about 25% more expensive.

Sterling Silver is an alloy of 92.5% Pure Silver (Ag) and Copper. It is alloyed for strength in finer details and lighter designs.

Pure Silver, the actual element Ag, works well in heavier designs like in our men’s wedding rings. Our studio is unique in offering this choice. It patinas into a silky white, not unlike Platinum, with a minimum of tarnish. Our $980 price for both Sterling and Pure Silver men’s bands is about half the price of our rings in 14 karat yellow gold.

A comment on men’s bands in silver: The metal (Ag) is a classic precious metal. It far outlasts most alternative materials for men’s wedding bands. It doesn’t break and it can be sized. If at any time you’d like to switch to a gold ring, we will give you the full $980 back towards your new gold ring in the same handcrafted and recognizable design.

The miracle of water is the inspiration in the designs of these men’s rings. Water embodies the motion and energy in our Dynamic Minimalism. Water can be both hard and soft. It is life-giving. It is with us forever. Most of the designs can hold gems, as shown under ‘Gudmund’.
